About Burton Bowls

This section of the web-site is for the mens and midweek sections of Crown Green Bowls in Burton and District. It contains information relating to all aspects of the game in the area ranging from the local league level to the East Midlands Parks County and the full Derbyshire county sides that is of interest to local bowlers.

The primary league in this area is the Burton and District Saturday league which plays a full league program throughout the summer. It is very competitive and comprises several divisions competing on a divisional basis to become overall league winners. At the end of each season league winners compete for the local Champion of Champions trophy in September. Other leagues playing midweek are the East Midlands Parks and the Burton, District Midweek leagues playing on a Wednesday evening and the Burton and District Veterans league playing on a Thursday afternoon. These leagues are also competitive and run on a divisional basis offering competitive but friendly opportunities for crown green bowling in the area. All these leagues feed players through to the County sides and also provide opportunities for players to compete in competitions at the local and then national level which lead to the individual National Champion of Champions final, a prestigious event in the crown green bowling world.

Burton and district are committed to promoting the game and any new clubs and players are always welcome. Any clubs wishing to join should contact the Area Secretary who will provide information directly. Individual players are always welcomed at club level where coaching and guidance is offerred as appropriate, if guidance is required on approaching or joining any club the Area Secretary will be pleased to help and provide initial guidance.
