The Association was formed in 1979 and joined the newly formed B.C.G.L.B.A. which is an Association within the B.C.G.B.A. The first County Match was held on 16th May 1979 against Warwickshire at the Tally Hoe Club in Edgebaston, Birmingham. The Burton County side have had many successful seasons over the last 26 years winning the Division 2 Championship in 1981, 1984. The current county league format of 4 groups was introduced in 1986, when Burton & District were Runners Up. They won the County Championship again in 2001 beating Staffordshire at the Waterloo in Blackpool. They have been Runners Up in the County Championship on several occasions. They have also won the Waterloo Cup beating Cheshire in 2002 and were the first winners of the Veterans County Championship in 2000.
